This was our first house after moving to the mainland from Honolulu. Klamath Falls, Oregon about 1942. That's me looking at the flowers in our front yard. My dad had two jobs - digging potatoes and driving a bread truck. He told me he got paid with spuds and bread - no cash. During this time he was reinducted for WWII and we didn't see him again except for a short time when I was 5. |
We added a porch to keep up with the neighbors. It got so cold that winter that we all slept in the same bed to keep warm. (including the dog) One night Dad got mad at the dog and kicked him of the bed. A second later I burst out crying. That's right, he kicked me off instead of the dog. You wonder why I'm so weird? |
Our first car. 1930? Chebby. I only fell out of this one once. I had a thing about falling out of cars while they were moving. Once, twice, thrice and lastly I just stepped out of Cilfred Santistevan's 55 chebby one night.when he was doing 55. But that's another story... |
|
Rotary Fever. This was my favorite rocket. It was one hell of a street racer. Just ask Big Mike, Dallas ,Texas. |
My favorite Baja. I was a charter member of the North Texas Dune Buggy Association. I dropped out when the only way to win races was to spend more money. |
Setting up for the next round. I was the crew on this car. We raced in NHRA Div. 6. Being the pit crew on a rotary race car is a lot like being a Maytag repairman... |
